* Although these rubber dumbbells are considered low odor, it is a good idea to unpack them outside. All low odor dumbbells have a slight new tire smell when you first unpack them. (If you are sensitive to smells you may want to leave this product in a well-ventilated place for a couple days before bringing them into your gym) All manufacturers of low odor rubber dumbbells have the same issues we just want to be honest and tell you so you can have the best experience possible.
* New dumbbells will also have a little mold release residue on them from the rubber molding process which can be wiped off with a damp rag. (It is nontoxic, and this step is optional)
* Occasional cleaning is recommended. Use a damp rag to wipe off dust and debris.
